15" & 17" MacBook Pro now ships with Mac OS X Leopard

The MacBook Pro is a line of Macintosh notebook computers by Apple for the professional market. First announced on January 10, 2006 at the Macworld Expo by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, the MacBook Pro was immediately available for pre-sale at online Apple Stores worldwide, with deliveries beginning in mid-February 2006. The MacBook Pro was the successor to the 15-inch and 17-inch models of the PowerBook G4 series, and was the first Macintosh laptop to be powered by the Intel Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors.

The MacBook Pro is currently available in two size configurations: a 15.4-inch model first introduced on January 10, 2006 and last revised on June 5, 2007, and a 17" model first introduced on April 24, 2006 and also last revised on June 5, 2007.

Alongside the iMac Core Duo, the MacBook Pro represents Apple's first computers to feature Intel processors instead of PowerPC processors, a transition that completed on August 7, 2006. Since the introduction of the MacBook Pro, other lines have followed, including the introduction of the Intel Core powered Mac mini on 28 February 2006 and the consumer line of laptop computers, the MacBook on 16 May 2006.

The new MacBook Pro features Intel’s latest mobile processor — the Intel Core 2 Duo running at speeds up to 2.4GHz with a 4MB L2 cache — making the MacBook Pro one of the fastest notebooks on the planet.

Combined with 4MB L2 cache and a myriad of other engineering leaps, the Intel Core 2 Duo boosts performance up to 55% over the original Core Duo-based MacBook Pro. With this awesome power, it’s a breeze to render complex 3D models, enjoy smooth playback of 1080p HD video, or host a four-way video conference.

MacBook Pro includes Front Row and the Apple Remote. So, from anywhere in the room, you can present your ideas with 21st-century panache. Show off dailies. Play the latest mix. Click through your portfolio. Then head back to your hotel room to watch the TV shows and movies from the iTunes Store or a slideshow of last month’s vacation.

Artfully placed in the MacBook Pro display bezel is an iSight camera. This small camera lets you use iChat AV, iMovie HD, and Photo Booth to make big statements anywhere. So shout it from the rooftops. On location. Backstage. Back home. Show your point of view. Share it with the world.

Graphically speaking.
Whether you’re creating 3D animation, editing photos from the day’s shoot, or playing your favorite video game, MacBook Pro delivers serious processing power with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics controller.

Display’s the thing.
A great video processor powers a great display. The new MacBook Pro is available in 15-inch models with a mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display and a 17-inch model with an optional 1920-by-1200-pixel display.

Packs power, not pounds.
What makes MacBook Pro so mobile? Performance in a portable package. Only one inch thin and 5.4 and 6.8 pounds, respectively, the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models are among the thinnest, lightest notebooks in their display class.

Hit the road.
Your life isn’t confined to an office, so why should your computer be? AirPort Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi gives you up to five times the performance and two times the range compared to the previous 802.11g standard. No wires. No extra phone lines. Just you being freed from those four walls.
